Aristides was founded in the late 1990s in Maipú, Mendoza, by Federico Sottano, born in Mendoza and member of a lifelong winemaking family, and his cousin Hugo Baro, who, at that time, had just arrived from Europe where he specialized as a winemaker.
They decided to create a winery with a low production volume, prioritizing the quality of the raw material, with the firm intention of producing an innovative, different wine with personality. To achieve this, they decided to move away from the standards of the time, giving much importance to the region, its different areas and soils, and where the wood was no longer the main protagonist to give a relevant space to the typicality and purity of the fruit, highlighting each varietal and its main characteristics. Each wine line
maintains its own imprint and personality.
Today Aristides is a very well-established brand in its niche market, been able to maintain the same ideal throughout all these years: In Aristides, wines are not thought to be sold, but to be drunk.
